Google is testing Business Home, a dashboard built with its Gemini AI that pulls a business's Google Business Profile, Ads, YouTube and Merchant Center accounts into one place. It can draft posts, touch up photos, update hours, suggest review replies, and run AI messaging. Right now it's a closed, invite-only beta for select business types in the US and UK.

Google is testing a new front desk for your business, and it isn't you.

What Google Business Home is, and who can get it

Business Home is a closed beta that Google describes as "a growth partner built with Gemini models." It's only open to businesses in the US or UK, by email invite, and only to the owner or manager of a verified Google Business Profile with fewer than 10 locations. One business type per account. Up to one linked YouTube channel, one Google Ads account, and one Merchant Center account.

Search Engine Roundtable got access on October 22 and reported that Google has been rolling the beta out slowly over the past couple of months. Separately, on October 20, Google began rolling out a business landing page inside the Gemini app itself, with the ability to connect Gemini to a Business Profile, Google Ads, and Google Workspace, along with outside tools like Shopify, Wix, and Canva.

What it can do today

Inside Business Home, Google says the AI can write content and touch up photos, manage locations (hours, review replies), hand out prioritized growth recommendations, and set up AI-powered messaging over RCS so customers get instant answers. On October 23, Search Engine Roundtable also reported Google testing a rebuilt Business Profile performance report with new sections for engagement, reviews, search trends, and audience.

None of this is live for most businesses yet. It's a beta and a test, not a rollout.

Why this is a setup problem, not a convenience feature

An AI that writes your posts and answers your customers only knows what it can see: your profile, your website, your ad account. If any of that is wrong, thin, or three years out of date, Business Home doesn't fix it. It repeats it, faster, to every person who finds you.

That's the part worth sitting with. Right now, a stale "we service the whole county" claim or a missing service category is a minor annoyance. Once an AI is writing your Google posts and answering customer questions in your name, the same gap turns into a daily, automated misstatement about your business. Someone needs to check that the inputs are right before any of this gets turned on, the same way you'd check a new hire's script before putting them on the phones.

What to check this week

If you manage your own Google Business Profile, watch for a Business Home invite, and make sure you, not a former employee or a past agency, are listed as the verified owner. Beyond that, the move isn't a DIY cleanup project. It's worth having your profile, your site's service pages, and your ad account reviewed by someone who does this for a living, before an AI starts quoting them to customers. That review, plus a punch list of what's actually wrong, is exactly what our free Growth Audit covers. If an invite does land in your inbox, get it looked at before you flip on AI posts or messaging.

Keeping your Google Business Profile accurate matters more every month Google leans further into AI, and it matters even more for HVAC companies competing in a crowded local market where one wrong service area line can cost real calls.

Matt's take

Google keeps building more AI between you and your customers, and every layer of it only repeats what you've already told it. That's the whole story here: more automation, same garbage-in-garbage-out problem, just running faster and in your name. It's still a thin beta, so most owners haven't seen an invite land yet. Once it spreads, the business with a clean profile wins and the business with a sloppy one gets exposed to more people, quicker.

Treat every new AI feature Google ships the same way: it's not a reason to do less maintenance on your profile. It's a reason to do more, before the AI starts talking for you.

FAQ

How do I get Google Business Home?
Google is inviting eligible businesses by email during a closed beta. You need a verified Google Business Profile with fewer than 10 locations, in the US or UK, with you listed as owner or manager. There's no public signup yet.
Is Google Business Home free?
Google hasn't published pricing for Business Home. It's currently a free, invite-only beta, and Google hasn't said whether or how that changes if it moves beyond testing.
Does Business Home replace my Google Business Profile?
No. Business Home is a dashboard layered on top of your existing Business Profile, Ads, YouTube, and Merchant Center accounts. It doesn't replace any of them; it's a single view and AI toolset across accounts you already have.
What information does Google's AI use to write posts and reply to reviews?
Whatever it can pull from your connected accounts: your Business Profile details, your website, and your ad account. If those are outdated or incomplete, the AI's output will reflect that, which is why Google recommends reviewing anything it drafts before it goes live.
